History of the 'Liberty Blue Jay Sports Network'

While the 2004 Liberty Blue Jay Softball Team was preparing for the State Final Four Tournament in Columbia, MO, plans were being constructed to bring the loyal Liberty fans an opportunity to listen to the game that could not make it in person.

While actually airing the games on a Kansas City radio station was not an option, the second best thing came to fruition with the creation of the 'Liberty Blue Jay Sports Network'.  With a simple click of the computer mouse, Blue Jay diehards not only from the Liberty Community but from around the world could follow their team.

The late October 2004 weekend in Columbia was not only historic with Liberty's first ever girls state championship being captured but also the birth of Liberty's newest and best source to follow their beloved Blue Jays.

Internet audio coverage has expanded in recent years.  All Liberty Blue Jay Football games have been broadcast since the fall of 2005 while a large amount of both boys and girls basketball have been heard on the LBJSN.

Highlighting the broadcasts' was the return trip to the state
softball tournament in 2006, and the Lady Jay Basketball Teams memorable run to the state championship in March 2007.

While there has been a rapid progression in coverage and viewership, the 'Blue Jay Network' hopes to continue to expand the broadcast schedule with more games being offered in the months to come.

Dallas Ackerman returns for his 6th season as the 'Voice of the Blue Jays'.  He will be joined on most broadcasts by numerous talented Liberty High School Broadcasting students that look to bring the listeners a student's perspective.

Along with extensive sports coverage on the Liberty Public Schools Cable Television Station, KLPS-TV Channel 18, 'The Liberty Blue Jay Sports Network' will continue to prove to its most loyal listeners their motto:  'The BEST source to follow YOUR Blue Jays at home!'
